New Artist⎜Nina Clark Ceramics
Nina Clark from Nina Clark Ceramics describes herself as follows:
I am a self-taught ceramicist based in a small studio at my house in Følle, East Jutland, where I primarily work with stoneware. The concept of “functionality” interests me a lot, and I find great pleasure in challenging the boundary between art and applied art.
My major sources of inspiration include surrealism and Wabi-sabi, which is why I often experiment with imitating or distorting nature. I love rough, earthy textures and tactile surfaces. At the same time, it is important for me to create strong contrasts that arouse the desire to investigate further. The more I can blur the line between reality and fantasy, the better.
By taking the natural or recognizable as a starting point and then adding a layer of mystery, I encourage the viewer to create the story of the work themselves. Whether I am making a utility object, a sculpture or a photo setup, it is always an invitation to activate the imagination and the senses.
