Collection: Andreas Exner
I trained as a goldsmith in 1985. After my apprenticeship I worked at Georg Jensen in Copenhagen and was then employed by a goldsmith in Norway. In 1994 I opened my own workshop in Ringkøbing, where I still have my base.
Facts about the mayor's chain:
- The mayor's chain consists of silver, gold and enamel as well as the stone types jade, peridot and amber
- It was designed and made by goldsmith Andreas Exner
- It was donated by the Business Association on 4 March 2009
- The mayor chain weighs approx. 500 grams
Motives of the mayor's chain:
The mayor's chain consists of silver plates, which are coated with enamel motifs from the municipality. One half of the mayoral chain starts from the sea side and the other from the fjord side.
The motifs show cultural elements from the area - i.a. The heather mill at Grønnestrand, fishing boats at Thorup Strand, a sailing boat, fishing boats, Herregården Bratskov, Saltum Church, children at the water's edge with a coastline in the background and many other nice little elements from the area.
"A mayor's chain is like a priest's dress"
"For me, a mayor's chain is what dresses the mayor, just as the priest wears his priest's dress in church," says Andreas Exner and adds: "The chain must be used. I imagine the mayor uses it for weddings and public events. It must hang around the mayor's neck as a symbol of the municipality.'
In addition to jewellery, I have made a lot of new church silver and restored many old things for churches - often in collaboration with the National Museum.
